Your safety matters to us. This Safety Center brings together practical tips for dating and hanging out with people you meet on ComeAround — online, before you meet, and in person. It is not a substitute for using your own judgment, but it is a good starting point.

If you are ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services right away. This page is safety guidance, not an emergency resource.

1. BEFORE YOU MATCH

• Use a recent, clear photo of yourself, and be honest in your profile. Authenticity helps you find genuine connections and helps others trust the community.
• Take advantage of ComeAround’s photo and identity verification — a verification badge helps confirm someone is who their profile says they are, though it is not a criminal background check (see Section 5).
• Trust your instincts. If a profile feels off — too good to be true, inconsistent, or evasive — proceed carefully or don’t engage.

2. CHATTING SAFELY

• Keep conversation on ComeAround for as long as you’re comfortable, rather than moving to another app or platform right away.
• Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or your financial or banking information to someone you’ve matched with — no matter how convincing their story is. This is one of the most common scam patterns.
• Be cautious of anyone who quickly professes strong feelings, avoids video calls or phone calls, or steers the conversation toward investing or a financial opportunity.
• Don’t share sensitive personal information — your home address, workplace, financial details, or daily routine — until you’re confident in the person.

3. MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME

• Meet in a public place for your first date or hangout, and stay in a public place until you’re comfortable.
• Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting, rather than being picked up or dropped off at your home.
• Tell a friend or family member where you’re going, who you’re meeting, and when you expect to be back. Consider sharing your live location with them for the meeting.
• Stay sober enough to stay aware of your surroundings, and keep your phone charged.
• If anything feels wrong once you’re there, it’s okay to leave. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.

4. GROUP MEETUPS

• The same public-place and “tell someone” guidance applies to Group Meetups — arrange to meet at a public venue, and let someone outside the group know your plans.
• If you’re organizing a Group Meetup, choose a well-known, public location and be clear about the plan in the listing.
• Remember that ComeAround does not vet Group Meetup attendees beyond standard Account verification — use the same caution you would with a one-on-one match.

5. USING VERIFICATION AND LOCATION FEATURES WISELY

• A verification badge confirms someone completed our verification steps — it is not a guarantee of their character or a criminal background check. Learn more in our Terms of Use.
• If you use live location or “Available Now,” only share it with people you’re genuinely comfortable meeting, and remember you can turn these features off at any time in your settings.
• Never use another User’s shared location information to show up somewhere they haven’t invited you — this is a serious violation of our Community Guidelines.

6. RECOGNIZING SCAMS

• Romance scams often follow a pattern: fast declarations of affection, a story that keeps them from meeting or video-calling, and eventually a request for money or gift cards.
• Cryptocurrency “investment” pitches from a match — sometimes called “pig butchering” scams — are increasingly common. Legitimate romantic interest does not come with an investment opportunity attached.
• If someone asks you to move money, buy gift cards, or share financial account details, stop the conversation and report the Account to us immediately.

7. IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

• You can block any User at any time to immediately stop contact with them.
• Report concerning behavior using the in-app reporting tools, or by emailing support@comearound.app with as much detail as you can provide.
• If you experience or witness a safety incident, including anything that happens after meeting in person, please tell us — reports help us protect the wider community, even if you don’t want to take further action yourself.

8. GETTING HELP

If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911 in the United States and Canada). For non-emergency support related to relationship abuse, sexual assault, or exploitation, local and national helplines in your country can provide confidential guidance — a quick search for “domestic violence hotline” or “sexual assault hotline” in your country will connect you to local resources.
